Welcome to the Footsteps in Summer website!

Footsteps in Summer is the book which tells the story of my 955 mile solo charity walk from John O’ Groats to Land’s End, which I undertook during the long, hot summer of 2013.  This was about 930 miles further than I’d ever walked before, so it was undoubtedly a major physical and mental challenge.

The book recounts with a touch of humour the numerous difficulties I faced and the unexpected incidents I encountered during my epic journey.

But there’s a darker theme to the story too, as I gradually discovered that my entire route was dotted with the scenes of tragic historical events, from industrial disasters to natural catastrophes.

I raised nearly £18,000 for Cancer Research UK during my walk, but later decided to write a book about my adventures so that I could continue to raise funds for this remarkable cause.

All royalties from the sale of Footsteps in Summer will be donated to Cancer Research UK.

Please support my fundraising efforts by buying a copy of the book. You can do this by clicking the link to my publisher Troubador’s website at the top of this page. At just £9.99 plus postage for over 260 pages, it’s a bargain! Better still, more than £6 for each copy sold via the publisher will go to Cancer Research UK.
